Still, you are on an older iOS version with your older device? Here is exciting news for iOS 8.4.1 users. Pre-release of IPA based 8.4.1 daibutsu untethered jailbreak is now available. This is another contribution to the Jailbreak community by SakuRα Development. Kok3shi Jailbreak for iOS 9.3.2 – iOS 9.3.5 is another jailbreak tool by them. Also, Daibutsu is an alternative to the etasonJB untethered Jailbreak.

How to install daibutsu
Latest IPA sideload utility such as Altstore, Xcode won’t work with older iOS 8.4.1
You may use Xcode + iOS App Signer to install the daibutsu untethered jailbreak. Follow the Xcode guide from here.

According to the developer Reddit note, this is based on daibutsu – 32bit iOS 8.4.1- iOS 9.1 untethered kernel exploit released a few days back. Actually, this untether is based on the csbypass used on Pangu 9 for iOS 9 – iOS 9.1 and the Pegasus kernel exploit fixed on iOS 9.3.5 & iOS 10. Bypass codesign using a dyld exploit that override _MISValidateSignature in libmis.dylib with ret0 gadget, which has been used in the classical way. Also, exec kernel exploits to jailbreak the device. (tfp0, vm_map_protect, AMFI allow anything, sandbox patch etc.)
Further he says, it may get better results than etasonJB method on some devices. There is no bootloop protection. it bypasses codesign and applies untether like iOS 7.1 – iOS 9.0.2. That means it is possible to safely stash system apps to data. etc.

Untethered Jailbreak is given you the permission to reboot your Jailbroken iPhone or iPad without any removing jailbreak functionality. You won’t lose your jailbreak once you reboot your device.
