How to Install IPA files using AltStore and Mac
By following this simple step guide you will be able to install AltStore on your iOS device and sideload iPA files. You need a Mac to proceed with this guide.
- Visit https://altstore.io from your Mac and download the AltServer for macOS
- Unzip the download folder by double clicking on it and copy “AltServer.app” to your applications folder ( or drag the unzipped file to the Applications folder)
- Launch AltServer (usually appears in the menu bar as an icon)
- Select “Install Mail Plug-ins” from the AltStore top right menu bar
- Go to the mail and go to Preferences select Manage plug-ins and enable AltStore plug-ins. Then click Apply
- Now connect the iPhone or the iPad to mac (If this is your first time connecting, you may need to trust the connection)
- Now go to the menu bar in your mac and click on AltStore. And then select Install AltStore. Apple ID and Password is required during this process
- Now look for the AltStore icon on your iOS device (iPhone/iPad). It should be available if you have completed the above steps correctly
- Before opening AltStore, go to Settings → General → Device Management and select your Apple ID and tap on “Trust”
Now you have successfully installed AltStore on your iPhone / iPad
From the next step you will be installing IPA files on your iDevice - Open Safari using your iPhone and visit https://thetechpapa.com/ipa-store/ or scan the QR Code
- Download the required IPA file from the store
- Follow this step while your phone is connected with the mac. Open AltStore on your iOS device and go to the “My Apps” tab
- Tap the “+” icon in the top left corner and then the list of downloaded IPA files should be visible. Tap on the IPA you wish to install. System will prompt for the Apple ID and password
- Give it a few seconds for AltStore to complete the installation of the selected IPA file
- Finally the app will display on your home screen
How to Install IPA files using AltStore and Windows PC
To complete this guide, you need a Windows PC.
Note: If you already have the Microsoft version of iTunes installed on your computer (installed through the Microsoft Store), uninstall it. You need to download iTunes and iCloud directly from Apple
- Download iTunes 12.10.11 for Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Download iTunes 12.10.11 for Windows 10 (32-bit)
- Download iCloud non Microsoft Version
- Download AltServer for Windows and install it by following the screen instructions
- Connect the iOS device to the Windows PC. (need to Trust the connection)
- Go to the system tray and click on AltStore. Then click “Install AltStore”
Windows will prompt for Apple ID and password once it is entered you will be able to install AltStore on your iOS device - Now follow this step on your iPhone / iPad. Go to Settings → Device Management → Click on your Apple ID → Click “Trust”
Now your iPhone or iPad has AltStore successfully installed
You will begin installing IPA files on your iOS device in the following step - Open Safari using your iDevice and visit https://thetechpapa.com/ipa-store/ or scan the QR Code
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer
- Open AltStore on your iPhone and go to “My Apps” tab
- Tap the “+” icon in the top left corner to view the list of downloaded IPA files. Tap on the IPA you need to install. Enter Apple ID and password when required
- Selected IPA file will be installed within few seconds
- Finally the newly installed app will display on your homescreen
