With the CarKey feature, you no longer need to lend your keys or even carry the keys. No more visits to the dealers for new keys. You can leave your real keys at home and use the iPhone instead.

If you lose your iPhone by any chance, you can log in to the iCloud and disable it. Above all, the CarKey feature allows you to share your digital key among five members. Moreover, it has options to create restricted driving profiles. The sharing of the digital key is supported via iMessage.

NFC chip of the iPhone supports the CarKey feature for now, but since the Near Field Communication (NFC) needs you to take out the phone from your pocket or bag,  the developers are working on newer technologies. U1 chip with ultra-wideband technology could be the next best option.
