Apple is increasing the cost of battery replacement service for iPhone 13 and older models

Last Updated on 1 year by admin

Like all smartphone batteries, iPhone battery gradually loses its ability to maintain an adequate charge over time. As the battery ages, it may begin to hold less charge, die unexpectedly, or need regular charging. For this reason, it is recommended to replace the battery as soon as your iPhone’s battery health drops below 80%.

Apple today said that they are increasing the cost of its battery replacement service for all iPhone models except the iPhone 14, as those phones already charge $99 for battery replacement.

Validity of Current Battery Replacement Rates

The current out-of-warranty battery service fee is in effect until the end of February 2023. Effective March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will increase by $20 for all pre-iPhone models prior to iPhone 14 .

For newer iPhone models like iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11 and iPhone X, Apple currently charges a fee of $69. The price for the iPhone SE, iPhone 8 and older versions is $49. This cost will last until the end of February, after which it will increase by $20 on March 1, 2023.

How to proceed with the battery change through  Apple Authorized Service Provider

To have your iPhone battery replaced, you can schedule an appointment with an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store. You can also ship your iPhone directly to Apple for repairs or schedule a home service visit with an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

You can also check out Apple’s self-service repair program if you’re interested in changing the battery yourself. Before attempting the repair, you need to look at your iPhone’s repair manual and the specific battery changing process on Apple’s website. These guides can be found on Apple’s support site. From this point forward, you must order the necessary parts and tools from Apple’s self-service repair store in order to complete the repair.

Here’s how to check if your iPhone battery needs replacing (battery health)

In the beginning of 2018, Apple published an iOS software update with new features that “give users with additional visibility into the health of their iPhone’s battery, so they can see for themselves if its state is impacting performance.”

Simply choose Battery Health under Settings > Battery. Your iPhone will display the current battery health as well as whether it affects the performance of your device.

Please let us know what you think about Apple’s decision. Will you spend that much cash on a battery replacement for a phone that has been in use for a while? Our comments section is open for your thoughts.
