Apple has planned their big update iOS 13. It is loaded with a number of new features. Apple also added major improvements to Apple CarPlay. This is what we all wanted.

CarPlay New Screen Arrangements

Apple rearranged the menu bar on the left with Cellular Information, to display signal strength and connection type. Time is displayed on top. Home Button has moved all the way up.

Placement of the Apps has been slightly changed to provide more information for the driver. This includes Maps, Music, Calendar. The new look is designed to minimize the screen switching.

Apple also made slight changes to the way apps display, now the Phone app opens Contacts, Recent Call in “Bubbles”. With iOS 13 CarPlay Music app lets you Album Art on the right side of the Car display.

With the update, Siri activates to voice commands by displaying a waveform which overlays any active screen. This feature helps you on the same screen while Sir responds and process to voice commands.

To match many built-in infotainment systems CarPlay can now change its mode from Day Mode to Night Mode automatically. However, this feature isn’t totally automated. If you wish to have the CarPlay in Night Mode still you have the freedom to do so.

New CarPlay can adapt well with the different size of screens while bigger screens can have more rows or columns.

Apple CarPlay Features

Though looks bring your attention CarPlay isn’t all about looks. It has great features combined. The Settings App lets you customize these features starting from switching from Day and Night mode to Do Not Disturb.

While using you might notice there is no way of adding new appointments to Calendar through CarPlay. However, if the calendar display locations you can use it as a navigation point on Map. Updating Calendar is blocked to keep you safe from road distractions.

iOS 13 lets Siri work with third-party apps like Google Maps, rather than pushing you to use Apple Maps. Apple says it is to minimize the driver’s distraction. Anyhow this lets CarPlay suggest Google Map locations through Siri.

Apple has also improved its multitasking features by letting the passenger play around with the iPhone while CarPlay continues its task.

Most of all the existing vehicles don’t need to do any updates on their automobile to get the new features activated. Apple provides it all free with the OS update, which is also free for the iPhone owners.
