Type of Jailbreak: Semi-tethered jailbreak. That is every time you reboot or power off your device, it will have to jailbreak your device again by connecting it to your computer.

Unsupported platforms: This beta is only available for macOS. Windows and Linux will be added soon.

Package managers: Currently, checkra1n supports to install Cydia only. Zebra and other package managers are coming soon.

Checkra1n Download

Download the checkra1n jailbreak tool from the checkra1n team’s official website. It has a dmg file. 

Note – According to developers, this release is an early beta preview and as such should not be installed on a primary device. Strongly recommend proceeding with caution.

How to Jailbreak with Checkra1n 

1. Connect your device into your Mac. with an MFi-certified Lightning cable. 

2. Then open the downloaded dmg file and drag the checkra1n app into your Mac’s applications folder.

3. Open your Mac’s application folder. Right-click on the checkra1n app and click on the Show Package Contents option.

4. Then go to checkra1n > Contents > MacOS and double-click on the checkra1n_gui Terminal file. Now your connected device has been recognized by checkra1n. 

5. Then tap on the Start button. Now you need to enter DFU mode and tap the Next button.

6. Now tap the Start button and follow the on-screen instructions.Once you’ve entered DFU mode successfully, checkra1n will begin the jailbreaking process.

7. It will display the checkra1n-themed verbose boot screen. After the jailbreak completes, close the checkra1n application.

8. Now you can see the checkra1n loader app on your iOS devices home screen. Open and tap on the Cydia button to install Cydia.

9. Once completed, the process Cydia will appear on your device home screen.

Congratulations, you have successfully jailbroken your device using Checkra1n.
