We have personally experienced the trouble of configuring Sonoff Basic’s which ships with the old firmware. Therefore I am sharing this fix.
eWeLink states that the 1.6.0 or lower firmware versions should connect using Compatible Pairing Mode (AP). However, this has never succeeded on Android Phones with newer Operating Systems.
The process lets you connect to Android and operate the device for the 1st time anyhow once you power off and power on the SonOff it never connects back to eWeLink App.
The Fix we are about to share needs an iPhone if you don’t own one you might need to borrow one for a few minutes.
- Follow the exact steps on the official guide, which relates to Apple Phones, then update the firmware using the eWeLink App. Switch off the SonOff Basic and disconnect power once the firmware is successfully updated.
- Connect Mains back and Press the button on SonOff Basic for 7 seconds until the green LED fast blinks. Open eWeLink app on your Android Mobile, click”+,” you’ll see the pairing icons. Select the Quick Pairing Mode. In few seconds Android Phone should show the new device. You have the freedom to rename the newly configured device to any name as you require.
