A major iOS 15 was released some days back and everyone is rushing to install it. But jailbreak fans are holding off because of the iOS 15 jailbreak possibility. Apple has made jailbreaking much harder in iOS 15.
Therefore, here we discuss iOS 15 Jailbreak status.
What are the available iOS 15 jailbreak tools?
At the time we are writing this post, there is no iOS 15 jailbreak. In other words, No Untethered, Semi-untethered or semi-tethered jailbreak tools for iOS 15.
Will Checkra1n Jailbreak update for iOS 15?
Definitely yes!
However, Checkra1n is not supported with iOS 15 yet. But there’s some positive news for older device users. Because checkra1n jailbreak is BootROM-based hardware exploit and it can’t be patched via software update. That is iPhone 6S – iPhone X will always be jailbreakable, no matter what iOS is. So, iOS 15 won’t be an issue. So, checkra1n update for iOS 15 soon.
Is anyone working for iOS 15 jailbreak?
- Libhooker working on iOS 15 Beta 8
Developer CoolStar shared to the Discord channel that libhooker mostly works on iOS 15 beta 8. Libhooker is the tweak injection method utilized by the Chimera, Odyssey, and Taurine jailbreaks for iOS 12, 13, and 14. So we can assume if the tweak injection method is updated for iOS 15, there will be a jailbreak tool release in future. Also, Coolstar updated the jailbreak tool every iOS version since iOS 11. That would be another point we can assume it.
- iOS 15 Security Exploit to Bypass the Lock Screen to Access Notes
Security researcher Jose Rodriguez published a video to bypass the lock screen on an iPhone with iOS 15 in order to access the Notes app. This is supports on iOS 14.8 too. However, to work this exploit, it must have Siri activated, Control Center enabled in the lock screen and the Notes and Clock controls added to the Control Center of the targeted iPhone.

Working jailbreak untethered that has been patched by Apple’s signed system volume (SSV) security mechanism.
@__spv shared a tweet regarding this. It has not clearly mentioned which version of iOS that the untether would support. However, iOS & iPadOS 15 incorporate this new SSV security mechanism. So, we guess this is about iOS 15 untethered jailbreak. Also, he attached a video demonstration of an untether working on an iPhone 5 running iOS 10.3.4.

“Illusionofchaos reported four 0-day vulnerabilities this year. Now three of them are still present in the latest iOS 15 and one was fixed in 14.7. Why is iOS 15 Jailbreaking Much Harder?
- Apple has made jailbreaking more difficult with the introduction of its signed system volume (SSV) security mechanism.
Accordingly, iOS 15 has a trick that any modifications in the root filesystem of the OS will prevent your iPhone from booting. In other words, every jailbreak must be rootless and not modify any system files.
- Also, some security researchers & Jailbreak developers says don’t upgrade to iOS 15.
FreeTheSandbox also says don’t upgrade to iOS 15 hence Checkra1n does not work on this.
Coolstar reminds iOS 13 – iOS 14.5.1 have good chance for untethered jailbreak before update to iOS 15.
