In our blog we have shared almost everything about Helium Mining. Some of those are how to find best location for your Miner, how to find the best antenna for your location, Tools to get notified about your rewards and setting up a miner. And we thought of sharing an information post on Do’s and Don’ts of Helium Mining.

First, we will discuss what are the Do’s for helium crypto mining

Do’s for Helium Mining

1.       Find the right place to install your miner

Installing helium hotspot mining device closer to your power socket or the internet router may seem appropriate at first. But you should always keep in mind that further you spread your signal will support more users to connect. And it will be more profitable. So, finding the right location is really important. Even if the miner is facing buildings, large trees, or mountains it will affect the signal. For better understanding about the location, you can use a simulator that could provide more clear idea on this. Hotspot RF could be used for this purpose.

2.       Right Antenna for the Miner

You may be living in the city, suburb, or a hilly area but there is always an Antenna that will support to boost your helium coin mining signal levels. Usually, for Cities the best fit is a 2-6 dB as it allows connecting to hotspots both vertically and horizontally. 4-8 dB supports Suburbs and for Rural environment 8-10 dB could work. We have a separate post on selecting antenna’s and hope it will help you determine the best antenna for your Helium requirement. Tip – Use fiberglass antennas for better reception.

3.       Find the Right Cable, right length with current shield for Helium Hotspot Mining

As you may already know the cable which is connected between the Helium Hotspot and the Antenna plays a major roll when it comes to signal strength. That’s the reason we need to find a high-quality cable. And the other thing is we need to reduce the distance between the hot sport and the antenna as much as possible. Most reputed companies have manufactured cables for a standard length which comes with factory fitted connectors. These could come in handy for most of us and we recommend using those high-quality cables as well. For the benefit of the viewers, we are posting few company names who manufactures quality cables ‘mcgillmicrowave’, ‘rokland’. Also, the reputed manufactures mention the cable loss under the specifications. Which makes it easy for the users to check through simulators.

Furthermore, the same length cables can be found with different shields under same manufacture. The purpose of having cable with different shielding is to support over electrical interferences. Stronger the shielding Stronger the Signal however, the price also goes high significantly when there is stronger shielding. Commonly found shielding grade ratings are 200, 400 and 600. As an example, if you are using a 30 feet cable with grade 600 shielding it will improve the strength by 2.242 dB than using a 200-grade shield.

Don’ts for Helium Crypto Mining

  1. Don’t purchase Miners from unknown sites – Be Aware of Scammers

When purchasing Helium miners, you need to research well on the internet to find genuine suppliers. There are many scammers with genuine looking websites. You can also join the discord channel and check the scammers section.

  1. Don’t place hotspots closer to others

In the do’s we talked about finding the right place for the hotspot. And there are two sides of it. Just as making the Mining hotspot available for many users as possible having other Hotspots too closer is also a negative point. You should maintain at least a 300m distance from one Miner to the other. If not, you could lose out your HNT rewards. We have more details on this in our previous post ‘Turn your Wi-Fi into a Profitable Income with Helium mining’ Depending on the coverage sometimes you may find that your own house isn’t the best location for you. In such situations you can try a friends or relations house.

Hope this post was helpful to identify the Do’s and Don’ts related to helium hotspot mining. Go through our other posts and do web research as much as possible before you start mining.
