Last Updated on 1 year by admin

Developer opa334 (also known as Lars Fröder) has released a new version of the Dopamine jailbreak tool. The new lease is Dopamine v1.0.4, which offers several bug fixes and improvements for iOS 15 jailbreakers. This update comes as great news for those using arm64e devices on iOS and iPadOS versions 15.0-15.4.1.

Fröder, the developer of Dopamine, announced the latest update via a Tweet which included download links through the GitHub page.

The GitHub page also  includes a full change log. The release notes detail several changes, including the fixing of forkfix leaking file descriptors under certain conditions, adapting forkfix to be more similar to regular fork, and adding an IPC hook that supports system-wide access to mach services prefixed with cy: or lh:.

In addition to these changes, there were also some UI improvements, thanks to @sourcelocation. If you’re an existing user of the Dopamine jailbreak tool, updating to the latest version is easy. You only need to open the jailbreak app from your Home Screen and tap on the over the air (OTA) update link at the bottom of the interface to install the latest version.

However, if you’re a new user, you will need to install the latest .tipa file manually and re-run the jailbreak over your existing installation to accomplish the same feat. We recommend installing the latest version of the Dopamine jailbreak to start with to ensure the smoothest jailbreak experience. You can find a useful tutorial for jailbreaking with Dopamine if you’re unsure about how to get started.

Dopamine 1.0.4 Release Notes

  • Fix forkfix leaking file descriptors under certain conditions
  • Adapt forkfix to be more similar to regular fork
  • Work around issue with dpkg-deb just randomly failing if forkfix is used, this issue does not make any sense (issue triggers with a fork implementation 1:1 identical to the system one, but not on the system one itself, there really is some voodoo going on here), so I solved it by blocking tweak injection into dpkg-deb
  • Add IPC hook, supporting system wide access to mach services prefixed with cy: or lh:
  • Update fallback ellekit to 0.6.3
  • Some UI improvements (#87, #131, #120), thanks to @sourcelocation

Furthermore, Dopamine is a rootless jailbreak that only works on newer A12-A15 devices running iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1. Many jailbreak tweaks have already been updated to support the rootless dynamic, while others are being updated as you read this. Here’s a nontechnical short description to get to know more about rootless jailbreak

What is a Rootless Jailbreak

A rootless jailbreak allows users to modify certain iOS system files without having to bypass the security measures implemented by Apple. It operates within the existing security system, unlike traditional jailbreaks that involve exploiting vulnerabilities in the iOS system to gain root access. As a result, users can customize their iOS device by changing the appearance of the user interface, altering app behavior, and installing third-party apps not available on the App Store, without completely compromising their device’s security. Developers have turned to rootless jailbreaks in recent years due to the increasingly tight security measures implemented by Apple, making traditional jailbreaks harder to create. While rootless jailbreaks have some limitations on the types of modifications that can be made, they offer a safe and straightforward way for users to personalize their iOS devices.

If you’re an iOS 15 jailbreaker and haven’t updated to the latest version of Dopamine v1.0.4, we highly recommend doing so to take advantage of the bug fixes and improvements. Let us know in the comments section down below if you’ve updated and what your experience has been like.
