Project Sandcastle brings Android for the iPhone

Android for iPhone

Last Updated on 2 years by admin

Now you can run Android on your iPhone. Project Sandcastle brings Android for the iPhone with the support of Checkra1n Jailbreak. This is a huge achievement.

Project Sandcastle

Apple has restricted the operation inside a sandbox. Therefore, Project Sandcastle lets you create something new on the silicon of your device. Android for the iPhone allows you to run a different operating system on iPhone.

Long ago Linux and Android on the iPhone port worked for the original iPhone by David Wang and Chris Wade. Now they are the co-founders of Corellium company. So, Android for the iPhone brought you the same people who did that original port.

However, Project Sandcastle is currently in a beta stage. It has many exciting practical applications from forensics research to dual-booting ephemeral devices to combatting e-waste. This is only supporting iPhone 7, iPhone 7 plus and the iPod Touch at the moment. It comes with Open Launcher and the secure Signal messaging app.

There is enough work to get started. But don’t expect too much functionality. The status page goes from iPhone 6 to 11 Pro, but most builds have no storage access and most have no work display. There is much more work to be done.

Also, it has no support for audio output, cellular modem, Bluetooth, and camera and few more. Find the chart below.

It is open-source project. If you are interested, you can visit the Project Sandcastle GitHub page and follow the instructions.

CheckRa1n Jailbreak

We are all aware that CheckRa1n is hardware based permanent Jailbreak for A5-A11 devices. CheckRa1n v0.9.8.1 supports Project Sandcastle. Checkra1n Jailbreak team member Luca Todesco confirmed that.

A reddit user stbl demonstrated the Linux version of checkra1n for Android for the iPhone. He used newer versions of Linux or Android, Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact on Android 10 with kernel 4.14 that had been rooted with Magisk 20.3.

Check the video and short guide published by stblr on Reddit.

However, this project is still in progress, and we can expect more soon. Stay connected with us for upcoming latest news about Project Sandcastle.
