tvOS 16.2 Beta Enables Siri Voice Recognition

For a more individualized experience, Siri voice recognition is enabled on the Apple TV in the first tvOS 16.2 beta that was seeded to developers this week.

According to Apple, the new feature enables Siri to recognize your voice, switch to your Apple TV user profile, play your music, and offer individualized video recommendation suggestions while supporting up to six family members. When tvOS 16.2 is made available later this year, probably in December, the feature will be accessible to all users.

You can link your Apple TV and your iPhone or iPad’s Siri voice profile, as noted by Screen Times editor-in-chief Sigmund Judge. Although the beta version of the feature has some functionality, Judge shared a sneak peak of it on Twitter.

This week, Apple released tvOS 16.1, which includes a new, more manageable Siri interface and support for “Hey Siri” voice commands through AirPods on the Apple TV.

Weeks ago, Apple added new features to the 4K Apple TV, including an A15 Bionic chip, HDR10+ video support in compatible apps, up to 128GB of storage, a Siri Remote with a USB-C port for charging, a thinner and lighter design without an internal fan, and more. Depending on the configuration, pricing now starts at a lower $129 to $149.
