Last Updated on 1 year by admin

As of today, users in the United States and Canada will be able to use the Emergency SOS via satellite. As announced, the feature is exclusively available for iPhone 14 users. Also, the update that includes the SOS via satellite feature will reach other countries later next month.

Currently, the first two years of the Satellite SOS are provided for free. We cannot, however, confirm or disprove rumors about how Apple intends to carry on with the service after the first two years. Additionally, Apple offers a demo mode so that users can test out the feature and user interface. This demo mode allows users to test without actually activating SOS messages.

Emergency SOS – How does it work

The technology that allows users to connect to satellites in orbit around the world is a feature built into every iPhone 14 model, and this is how Emergency SOS via Satellite operates technically. Even when they are outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage, SOS via Satellite emergency services function. Users can send satellite-delivered messages to emergency services using a new interface that Apple has created. This procedure makes use of a questionnaire that asks important questions to help first responders understand the problem and provide assistance.

Though the iPhone 14 satellite sos connections are stronger than usual cellular and Wi-Fi connections, there could be some downsides. For a better experience, you must be outside, in an area that is somewhat open, and have a clear view of the sky. Lightly covered trees may hinder the connection, while heavily covered trees may prevent it. Mountains, canyons, and high buildings can all interfere with the connection. In such situations, your iPhone offers assistance if you need to turn left, right, or move to avoid a blocked signal. Just adhere to the onscreen directions.

What information is included in an emergency SOS via satellite

A user’s location, including altitude, their iPhone battery level, and their Medical ID, if they have one, are all included in the message that is sent to emergency services. Dispatchers get the messages directly, or they can be transferred to a facility with specialists trained by Apple who can contact emergency services on the user’s behalf.
