Hacker @b1n4r1b01 published a full kernel exploit for iOS 15 – iOS 15.1.1 as well as iPadOS 15 – iOS 15.1.1. It is based on Brightiup’s CVE-2021-30955 kernel bug write-up. He has published it on Github. This is good news for jailbreak developers to develop the long awaited iOS 15 jailbreak tool.
We are aware that iOS 15 jailbreak is more difficult than other iOS versions because of the new secure system volume (SSV) implemented with iOS 15. With this commitment, it needs to be rootless. So it is not an easy task. However, some developers have already started to work on this.
Developer, Cool star mentioned about the iOS 15 jailbreak updates based on this exploit.
Cool star developed a jailbreak tool for every iOS version since iOS 11. These are Electra iOS 11.X, Chimera iOS 12. X, Odyssey iOS 13.X, Taurine iOS 14.X jailbreak tools.
He says due to SSV protections, many jailbreak tweaks would need to be updated to work. Also, Odyssey jailbreak uses the libhooker tweak injection method. Already it has upgraded for version 1.6.9 beta 2 adding iOS & iPadOS 15 support. However, Taurine’s last jailbreakable version is iOS 14.3. According to the developer, he has no intention to upgrade it for iOS 14.4 – iOS 14.8.1 and only focuses on iOS 15 versions.
Actually it is not a big issue hence those iOS 14.4 – iOS 14.8.1 versions have several other Jailbreak tools like Unc0ver, Checkra1n. The important thing is there is no semi-untethered or untethered jailbreak for iOS 15 & higher versions yet. It took longer to get jailbreak than other older iOS versions. So this is huge.
It seems possible to see an iOS & iPadOS 15 supported jailbreak in the future very soon. Sometimes Coolstar comes up with a new brand name for this Jailbreak like previous Electra, Chimera, Odyssey & Taurine.
