The Uber Drivers app has been updated, adding a safety precaution and more unique features for Uber Drivers. This is a total new experience for the drivers. Other than using turn-by-turn navigation and being updated about surge pricing areas now that the update has been rolled out, Apple CarPlay supports:
- Viewing and accepting rider tips
- Have the rides added to queue
- Set driver status to available or offline
-includes many more feature
The first stage of the Uber-Driver app upgrade has begun in the United States, and it will expand its capabilities while delivering the same to all drivers worldwide who are connected with Uber.
Why Apple CarPlay
During the last few years, we have seen Apple share many updates to feature the CarPlay option. As a result, it is more accessible, even with true third-party accessories like Carlinkit. The wireless CarPlay has provided a more hassle-free experience for its users.
Automobile manufacturers have begun to collaborate with Apple in order to make the features available to a larger number of customers by including Apple CarPlay as a standard option in the new line of vehicles. As a result, we’ve noticed that the new line of luxury cars, including electric cars, have bigger screens. Some manufacturers have even collaborated with Apple to create unique features such as digital car keys that aren’t included in the standard feature set. The feature “Unlock your BMW” is one good example.
How to enable CarPlay Support on Uber Drivers App
According to the email that was circulated among the Uber drivers, the new update will take place at the end of this month. It will cover the drives in the US during its first phase. Furthermore, as the instructions listed on the email activating the feature is not a complicated task. We also believe Uber should have introduced this feature long before they focused on other areas of improvement.
- Open Uber Driver app using your Apple device
- Go online by tapping the GO button
- Now using wired or wireless Car Play connectivity connect the iPhone with CarPlay
- Open CarPlay and then run the Uber driver application

Did you know that Uber introduced a Comfort Electric feature for riders in California cities, and a few months ago they made it national? As of September 15, 2022, comfort electric features are available in the US across 24 cities. Also, Vancouver and Canada can also request for a comfort electric vehicle. The range of vehicles includes premium EVs such as the Polestar, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Tesla.
Note: Tesla still doesn’t support Apple CarPlay, so drivers who are riding a Tesla won’t be able to experience the new CarPlay features.
The Uber update for the drivers will surely benefit the rides as well. As riders, we will no longer experience drivers tapping their phones while driving. This will also reduce the number of unwanted arguments and give the rider some quality time to experience the surroundings or prepare for their work.
