Planetwatch is not just another blockchain. It is a byproduct of its parent company, CERN, which is one of the world’s major and most respected centers for scientific research. The aim behind creating PlanetWatch is to solve the public health challenges of air pollution affecting millions of lives. So, planet Watch plans to achieve this goal by going forward as a blockchain to gather air quality data through the community by rewarding them for the effort. Low-cost devices required for monitoring have been developed by them themselves. Those devices also support displaying real-time data on mobile apps. However, to have ledgers for historical data all sensors are set to deliver the data into the Planetwatch blockchain network. This process requires certain licenses, which we are going to discuss in detail later in this post.
Current Planetwatch status
Bringing this dream alive Planetwatch has spread more than 25,494 sensors by now (6th December 2021). This started with the activation of one hundred sensors in Italy, in Milan and Taranto. This batch was funded by the Algorand Foundation. Planet watch also believes that data gathered through air monitoring sensors could help to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.
While saving the planet Planetwatcher also has become a way of passive income. planetwatcher crypto is a leading trend in crypto market.
How to Become a Planetwatcher
Becoming a planetwatches isn’t that complicated. If you have a license and a device, then you are eligible to join the network. Furthermore, at the moment, devices are only supported in selected countries. For this reason, the limitation on joining the network is a bit challenging task.
Moreover, when purchasing a license there are few things to check.
- Check the device that is available in your market that supports the license category.
- Most licenses are available for 1 to 3 years. The price also varies according to the duration (1 year, 2 years, and 3 years). As usual, the 1-year license cost is higher. Buying for 3 years is more economical. Still, the decision must be made based on your own research.

If you are interested in purchasing an AirQino planetwatch sensor, then you need to purchase the license first. However, there is a wait time for the device to be available. Wait time is not just for the Algorand blockchain; even Helium Mining hotspots have a huge wait time.
Arianna Sensor – Support Type 2
Unlike other sensors Arianna is self-powered. It comes with a built-in solar panel. It is a great sensor to have on a sunny balcony area or a garden.
Tech features of Arinna
- Parameters: PM2.5

NOTE- There are no new productions of this Arianna Sensor, but the existing ones will continue working on the blockchain.
Sensedge Mini – Type 3
It was identified as the simplest device to install, mostly due to its compact design. It connects through a wireless network.
On the website, they mention in detail how the sensor should be installed. Because the sensor pulls air from both the top and bottom, the installation should not block the inlets. Also, to have better quality reading, it is recommended to avoid the breathing zone. Examples of recommendations. Install it around 6 feet above the ground level. Around 16 feet away from windows, air conditioners, heaters, etc. Furthermore, though it is not recommended to install the Sensedge Mini sideways or upside down, it may not affect the readings. However, during ceiling installations, there could be a chance of measuring the outdoor air or the air outside of the breathing zone.
In summary, the ideal level is around eye level, not too close to direct airflows or too close to workstations.

Can I buy sensors from eBay or similar sites?
The answer is yes but there is a chance that you could end up purchasing a banned device. Even though the sellers say new and sealed pack, anyone who saves the original packaging can easily get the item repacked and sealed. Therefore, it is better to purchase new units from genuine sites. You may have to pay a high price and wait for couple of months still it’s worth than ending up with nothing.

AirQino began rapidly flashing red lights. Streams stopped. Restarted the sensor, but this did not resolve the issue. Any solution?
Since Airqino sensor connects using a GSM SIM card this could be related to the LTE connectivity. Try unplugging for around 20 mins. If the problem exists, contact ISP provider to check for possible network issues.

I created an account in the app, but I’m unable to access the website through web, either.io or.us. ?
There is a separate account for the explorer. It’s different from the planetwatch.io or.us account, but it must have the same email as the account you used to purchase the license. I assume it’s an explorer account since you signed up using the app. You’ll be able to use it to visit this website if that’s the case. https://explorer.planetwatch.io/
Example
If you signed up on explorer with [email protected] another account on .io or .us with [email protected]
Note- Only the email address must be identical. It is possible to use a different password.
