On 27th January, Apple released iOS 15.4 / iPadOS 15.4 first beta to developers and the public with a few additions that Apple announced months ago. Also, released macOS 12.3 beta, watchOS 8.5 beta & tvOS 15.4 beta.
Previous day, Apple released iOS 15.3 / iPadOS 15.3 final version with macOS 12.2, watchOS 8.4, tvOS 15.3. However, there are no significant changes in these releases rather than bug fixes such asSafari Bug that Leaks Browsing Activity.
What’s new on iOS 15.4 beta / iPadOS 15.4 beta
- Users can add notes to their Keychain passwords
Users can access passwords stored in iCloud from the Passwords menu in the Settings app on iOS 15.4 beta. Now it has added a new option to add a note with the login details when you tap to edit a password.
- Use Face ID With A Mask On [No Apple Watch Needed]
Since mask wearing is important with COVID, Apple allows iPhone owners to unlock the device using Face ID while wearing a mask without wearing an Apple Watch. However, there is a warning that Face ID won’t be as accurate as it would be with your entire face visible. You can find the new toggle under the Settings > Face ID in iOS 15.4 beta. Also, Apple has also improved Face ID recognition when wearing glasses.
- Universal Control
Apple introduced this cross-device feature with macOS 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4. It works from Mac to Mac or Mac to iPad. So, users can use one Mac mouse or trackpad and keyboard to control nearby Macs or iPads. You can find the feature onDisplay panel of System Preferences on the Mac, or General > AirPlay & Handoff > Cursor & Keyboard (Beta)
- New Emojis
iOS 15.4 brings 37 new emojis which are added via Emoji 14.0 update. Melting face and face with peeking eye, heart hands, person with crown, troll, low battery, x-ray, biting lip, pointing finger, handshake are some newly added emojis. These will appear in the emoji picker automatically once you upgrade to the iOS 15.4 beta.
- New Keyboard Brightness options
iPadOS 15.4 brings Keyboard Brightness option which can be added to the Control Center.
- TV App options
You can select what is shown in the “Up Next”display for the TV app, “Still Frame” or “Poster Art.”
