CoolStar, the Odyssey Team’s lead developer, provided an update on the progress of the team’s upcoming jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 yesterday.
The following update was shared on Twitter. It contains information about what appears to be a sandbox escape demo for iOS 15.0-15.1.1 and iPadOS.
Difficulties of jailbreaking iOS and iPadOS 15
CoolStar restated the difficulties of jailbreaking iOS and iPadOS 15, and mentioned that this would be the final jailbreak attempt. As Jailbreak lovers we wish all the success in the final test attempt, while eagerly waiting for a working Jailbreak for iPadOS and iOS 15.
A later update posted to the Discord Channel “Sileo / Taurine / Odyssey” appears to highlight the team’s progress in a detailed checklist.
Because of the bypass, step one can be considered completed. All iOS and iPadOS 15.0–15.1.1 devices comply with step two. Therefore, it can be marked as complete. Apart from SSV (secure system volume), step three is fine, which is why this jailbreak will be rootless. Step four is still being worked on. Finally, steps five and six are contingent on the previous four steps being completed.
If anyone is facing a hard time reading the steps listed in the screenshot. here we have shared the same in text format
1. Breaking out of sandbox (bypass supports this process on iOS/iPadOS 15.x)
2. Getting root (already possible with iOS 15.0 – 15.1.1 – All devices)
3. Getting read/write to most of the file system (apart from SSV others completed)
4. Getting amfid’s task port (WIP)
5. Verifying the integrity of the amfid patch (unit test passed but there are more pending steps)
6. Verifying that jailbreak works (need to wait for a working confirmation of all above steps)
The Odyssey Team is still hard at work behind the scenes, and they provide regular updates on their progress. We continue to advise patience because there is undeniably a lot of stress involved in the process.
Here’s some proof to say that CoolStar and others are actively working on it. However, since there is no major news yet to be announced we have censored the message body from the public.

CoolStar posts on Discord channel about the upcoming jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1-equipped devices
Jailbreak is almost done, according to the checklist. Only the final step is pending. It is a reverse engineering of the AMFI changes in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. As we shared earlier, the work in progress jailbreak for iOS 15 is going to be rootless. Therefore, all Jailbreak related files are saved in a new volume.
Another comment confirms the new volume that is used for saving file will contain file naming as ” /private/preboot/jb,” Also, in otherwards the /private/preboot/jb volume must be deleted to remove a jailbreak.
Furthermore, according to “StarPlayer”, new roadblocks have been introduced, most notably on iOS and iPadOS 15.2 and later on A12-and-newer devices. However as the Jailbreak community we still have high hopes about the upcoming jailbreak. We’ll keep you updated once more information becomes available.
